YSL Café in Paris: Tourist Trap or Hidden Gem?

We live in a saturated market these days where content recommendations flood the internet. TikTok, Instagram, Google, all have an overwhelming amount of opinions of how we should spend our time. So, how do we decipher what’s worth it and what’s not?

That’s my goal with this new series I’m creating, as I’ve found myself in plenty of tourist traps so you don’t have to. Now, is the YSL café a tourist trap or treasure? Let’s dive into it.

For starters, I liked that this café is walking distance from the Louvre, which means it’s not out of the way from activities I’d already recommend for your trip to Paris. The line was a little long, but moves quickly. The menu has options outside of coffee, including an iced mocha latte. However, as an American in the heat wave of Paris in August, I was totally ordering an iced coffee.

The iced mocha was made of melted chocolate instead of sauce or powder, and the taste was decadent and the perfect jolt for walking around the busy city.

In terms of price, the cost was fairly standard for a latte in Paris. It’s giving luxury on a budget and I went to the YSL café twice because iced coffee in Europe  is hard to come by. There isn’t a ton of info on Google/Apple Maps to get here, so the clear address is 8 Rue du 29 Juillet, across from Golden Goose.

Overall, I think if you’re an American, this could be considered a treasure to visit in the summer due to the iced coffee options alone. If you’re visiting in colder months, the accessibility in location means you can keep it on your ?maybe visit” list, but don’t make it a priority. Angelina’s would be a better option for those wintry months, but more on Angelina’s in another post.
